Position Description

Reporting to the Head of Information Management (HIM), the Case Management Assistant (CMA) provides case management and administrative support to the HIM and the labour relations team. Major responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):

  • Analysing and processing new grievance files and complaints, assigning files to labour relations officers based on their individual portfolios
  • Monitoring and processing the USGE Grievance Email Inbox and special project Inboxes as they arise
  • Updating and maintaining grievance database (UnionWare – Cases module)
  • Assisting the Head of Information Management in developing information management guidelines, standard operating procedures, common tools and methods, techniques and procedures; as well as operational and technical procedures, methodologies and standards used to maintain the management of all files and the application of legislative and policy requirements


$65,773 to $74,026 plus $1,000 bilingualism bonus. Salary dependent upon qualifications. Conditions and benefits, including pay rates, as negotiated between the Union of Solicitor General Employees and Unifor Local 2025 will apply.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have a college diploma in office administration, legal secretarial studies or the equivalent. Minimum of 3 years relevant experience ideally, in a legal or labour case management related environment. As well as:

  • Fluently bilingual in French and English, and excellent writing skills in both
  • In-depth knowledge of various software programs (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel)
  • Excellent administrative abilities and strong organizational skills
  • Extremely detail-oriented
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, confidential and sensitive environment and work effectively under pressure to meet set deadlines
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Collaborative, open-minded and creative in a team-oriented setting
